The EU Sanctions Map, launched in 2017, provides comprehensive information about sanctions and sanctions regimes imposed by the EU. It is the easiest way to ensure that a person or company isn’t being sanctioned by the EU. The website contains links to the legal norms based on which the person is being sanctioned, allowing a simple way to get the whole legal framework. On top of that, the website also shows in a simplified manner the restrictive measures (asset freeze, travel ban etc.) in the searched person’s profile, so it is clear what measures apply to the searched person without having to read the whole legal norm.
The website also contains an interactive world map with thematic restrictions imposed by the EU onto other countries (chemical weapons, cyber-attacks, human rights and terrorism) which can also be useful for export/import purposes on top of AML reasons.
