Investment Advisor Public Disclosure (IAPD)

IAPD is an SEC-sponsored portal providing information about both SEC-registered and state-registered investment adviser (IA) firms, certain Investment Adviser firms that are exempt from registration with the SEC or states, state-registered investment adviser representatives, and links to BrokerCheck information on Brokerage firms or Registered Representatives of Brokerage firms.

It is a very helpful tool for KYC and CDD on US regulated companies, because of its regularly updated ADV form. In this document, you can find reliable information about Investment Advisers, such as registered address, principal place of business, ownership chain, assets under management, controlling persons, nature of business and list of funds managed by the regulated advisers.

It is, nonetheless, important to check the registration status of each company and also the age of the submitted ADV form. While an ADV forms older than 1 year might still provide valid data, it is advisable to also use another source to verify the data obtained from the old ADV form.
