Opensanctions

Opensanctions is a website providing open data about sanctioned entities (people and companies) as well as politically exposed persons. It was established in 2015 and, with more than 10 years of operation, it is a great source of sanctions and PEP related information. The website is of great help to smaller obliged entities who cannot afford the bigger, premium screening tools such as Worldcheck. The downside of the website is the fact that it is not operated by the government or by a globally recognized data provider, therefore relying solely on results from Opensanctions might be viewed as not diligent enough. The best way to use the website is to combine it with national/EU sanctions databases and the UN sanctions list.
